Description
Restored interior view of abutment pier foundation north of replacement door jamb.
Base blocks and the pier between east entry door and window in the east wall have been reset with new bed ["setting"] mortar. Pumping did not materially accelerate reduction of the water table after heavy rain primarily because of the large sub-grade "reservoir" recharging the "pool" within and exterior to the building [see comments to DTR09PH 74--1001.01.163] {1}.
Wall foundation segments subject to standing water and saturated soil will be repointed with hydraulic-quality mortar and further protected as described in DTR09PH 74--1001.01.163 and DTR09PH66--1001.01.150.
FOOTNOTES
{1} Pumping or a gravity drain will, however, alleviate the temporarily increased accumulations from surface runoff and the marginally rising water-table.
